Unjust

Certain groups of people are disproportionately affected by adverse environmental conditions. Environmental inequity and environmental racism are terms used to describe the uneven exposure to environmental toxins or risks and the typical exclusion of those exposed to the policies governing the environmental regulations or laws. Those typically affected are the poor, minorities, immigrants, indigenous populations, the working class, and other disadvantaged groups, often the people that contribute the least to causing the environmental condition. Environmental justice hopes to decrease these disparities.
