Environmental Organizations help protect the planet. They can be global, national, regional or local; they can be governmental, non-governmental, a charity or trust. For example, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is an international NGO whose goal is to preserve the wilderness. Other common organizations are the Sierra Club, Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), Greenpeace, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, and the Nature Conservancy. People can support these organizations financially or through activism. Activism through these groups includes signing petitions that can be found on their websites, joining a local chapter or a position in the organization such as a Panda Ambassador in WWF.
